Remove Disc Stuck in Xbox 360

Introduction Before sending your Xbox 360 / 360 S back to Microsoft or taking it to a professional repair person because the disc tray won't open, first work to see if you can eject the disc tray on your own and identify the problem. The Xbox 360 / 360 S disc tray be blocked by the faceplate, the gears that open the disc tray could be temporarily stuck and need a little nudge before the disc tray can resume operating normally or just need to be moved to the horizontal instead of vertical position. Use troubleshooting techniques to work through your problem and potentially save yourself the headache of having to leave your Xbox 360 / 360 S with a repair person for a few days or Microsoft for a few weeks. Xbox 360 Position your Xbox 360 so the disc tray is facing you and the Xbox 360 is sitting horizontally and not vertically. Disconnect the power cable, video and audio cables, Ethernet cable or any other cables or devices connected to your Xbox 360. Grab the right side of the Xbox 360 console with your right hand. Grab the right edge of the faceplate on the front of the Xbox 360 console and carefully pull the faceplate away from the console until you can completely remove it. Connect the power cable back to your Xbox 360 console after the faceplate is completely removed. Press the "Eject" button on the Xbox 360 console. If the Xbox 360 disc tray ejects, the faceplate may be blocking the disc tray in some way. When you put the faceplate back on the Xbox 360 console, take note of any part of the faceplate that may be preventing the Xbox 360 disc tray from ejecting properly. If the Xbox 360 disc tray doesn't eject, proceed to the next section. Follow Steps 1 through 6 to remove the faceplate from the Xbox 360. However, take care to not plug the power cable back in. If you reconnected the Xbox 360's power cable as part of the previous section, disconnect it before proceeding. Straighten out a paper clip. Insert the straightened paper clip into the hole beneath the word "XBOX" on the right side of the Xbox 360 disc tray. Push the straightened paper clip firmly into the hole after you feel some resistance. The Xbox 360 disc tray should eject just enough for you to get a grip on it and carefully pull it out to expose the disc so that you can remove it. If you can remove the disc, reconnect the power cable to the Xbox 360 console and then press the "Eject" button to open and close the disc tray a couple of times to ensure it's working properly. However, if the Xbox 360 disc tray still doesn't eject after pushing the paper clip into that hole, proceed to the next step. Insert the paper clip into the leftmost hole of the two holes beneath the left side of the Xbox 360 disc tray. Push the straightened paper clip firmly into the hole after you feel some resistance. The Xbox 360 disc tray should eject just enough for you to get a grip on it and carefully pull it out to expose the disc so that you can remove it. If you can remove the disc, reconnect the power cable to the Xbox 360 console and then press the "Eject" button to open and close the disc tray a couple of times to ensure it's working properly. If the disc tray won't close or doesn't open again after it closes, have the console looked at by a professional repair person. Xbox 360 S Disconnect the power cable, video and audio cables, Ethernet cable and any other connected devices from the Xbox 360 S console. Straighten out of paper clip. With the front of the Xbox 360 S facing you, position the console so it's horizontal and not vertical. Locate a yellow sticker in the upper-right corner on the back of the Xbox 360 S console. Locate the small hole directly above the yellow sticker. Push the straightened paper clip firmly into the hole after you feel some resistance. The Xbox 360 S disc tray should eject just enough for you to get a grip on it and carefully pull it out to expose the disc so that you can remove it. If you can remove the disc, reconnect the power cable to the Xbox 360 S console and then press the "Eject" button to open and close the disc tray a couple of times to ensure it's working properly.
